If you’re a Windows Vista user, you may be wondering how to change your browser to search Google by default. This is a common request, as Google is the most popular search engine on the web. There are a few ways to do this, but we’ll show you how to do it the easy way using one of our favorite tools: Windows Explorer.

  1. Open Windows Explorer and type “g” in the address bar. This will open up Google’s search box.
  2. Type “cmd” in the address bar and hit enter. This will take you to Microsoft’s command prompt window.
  3. Type “netstat -an” and hit enter again. This will show you all of your internet connections and their status (active, paused, or closed). If Google is listed as one of your connections, then changing your browser to use it will be easy!

First, open up Internet Explorer, and then click the little search dropdown:

You should see a page with Google Web Search on it:

Click Google as fast as you can!

Make sure you check the default search provider box.

This will also work in IE7 on XP as well.
