Slack is a communication platform that allows users to share work and chat with others. It has a wide range of emoji skins that can be used to represent different aspects of the platform. The default skin for Slack is green, but there are many other skin tones that can be used. To change the default emoji skin tone on Slack, you first need to create a new user account and then sign in. Once you have logged in, open the Preferences window and then click on the General tab. Under the Skin Tone section, you will need to select a new skin tone. There are many different skin tones available for Slack, so it is important to choose one that is comfortable for you. Once you have selected a new skin tone, you can save it by clicking on the Save button at the bottom of the preferences window. You can also use this skin tone when talking to other users on Slack by using the following commands: /skin-tone set

Unless you’re a character from The Simpsons, Slack’s default yellow skin tone for emojis probably doesn’t represent you. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to change the default emoji skin tone from yellow to something more appropriate for you.

The method is the same for the desktop client and the web app, but slightly different for the Android, iPhone, and iPad apps. We’ll show you how to do both.

Change Slack’s Default Emoji Skin Tone in the Desktop Client or Web App

In any Slack channel, click on the smiley face icon in the text box to bring up the emoji panel. From there, click the “Skin Tone” button.

Next, click on the skin tone that you want to use as the default from now on.

The previously yellow “Skin Tone” hand will change to the skin tone you selected, as will any hand emojis you regularly use.

All other “body” emojis (hands, feet, ears, etc.) and people emojis will also now display in the skin tone you’ve selected by default.

The standard face emojis like “grin,” “joy,” “heart_eyes,” and so on (known as “Smileys and emotions” in the official Unicode standard) will remain yellow.

Change Slack’s Default Emoji Skin Tone in the Mobile App

In the mobile app for Android, iPhone, or iPad, tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the app.

Next, select the “Settings” option.

Scroll down the settings menu and then tap on the “Advanced” button.

At the top of the Advanced options, select the “Emoji Deluxe” button.

In the “Default Skin Tone” window that appears, tap the skin tone that you want to use as your default.

The previously yellow “Emoji Deluxe” hand will change to the skin tone you selected, as will any hand emojis you regularly use.

As with the desktop client and web apps, all “body” emojis (hands, feet, ears, etc.) and people emojis will now display in the skin tone you’ve selected by default.
