If you’re like most people, you probably have a few favorite shortcuts to make on your iPhone. From opening the address book to quickly accessing the camera, there are plenty of ways to get your work done. But what about when you want to create a shortcut for something specific? There are a few different ways to do this, but one of the easiest and most popular methods is using the Keyboard Shortcuts app. This app lets you create custom shortcuts for any application or function on your iPhone. To start, open the Keyboard Shortcuts app and select the application or function that you want to shortcut. Then, type in a short code into the text field and press enter. The app will automatically generate a shortcut for you that will work just as expected. If you want to make a shortcut for an entire application, rather than just one function or application, then it’s also possible to use the Keyboard Shortcuts app with multiple applications open at once. Just select which application or function you want to shortcut and then press enter again when prompted for a code. The keyboard shortcuts will be applied in order from oldest to newest.

There’s a lot you can do with the iPhone’s “Text Replacement” feature. One example is included on every iPhone by default—“omw” is automatically replaced with “On my way!”. You can use that same idea for anything. All you need is a shortcut and a phrase to go with it. We’ll show you how.

First, open the Settings app on your iPhone (this is also available on iPad).

Go to the “General” section.

Select the “Keyboard” settings.

Now go to “Text Replacement.”

Tap the “+” icon in the top-right corner.

Now you need to enter a “Phrase” and a “Shortcut”—the Phrase will replace the Shortcut. Tap “Save” when you’re done.

Now you’re ready to use it! Simply type the shortcut and you’ll see the full phrase appear above the keyboard. You can tap the phrase to insert it or continue typing by tapping the spacebar or return and it will automatically be inserted.

This is a great time-saving feature for typing out longer phrases. One handy tip is to use your street name as a shortcut for your entire address. Your imagination is the only limit, so go forth and make some shortcuts!
